Suspect in fatal shooting of Bradenton ice cream man arrested in Hillsborough
BRADENTON -- A 30-year-old man suspected of gunning down a neighborhood ice cream man At 5:52 p.m. Saturday was arrested Thursday in Hillsborough County, according to the Bradenton Police Department.
Police charged Juan Carlos Ramirez, 30, with second-degree murder.
Ramirez reportedly shot Jose Luis Mendoza-Aguilar after an argument near the corner of 23rd Street East and Sixth Avenue Drive East, police said. Mendoza-Aguilar died a little more than five hours later at Blake Medical Center in Bradenton.
Investigators with the Manatee County Homicide Investigative Unit and the U.S. Marshal's Fugitive Task Force found Ramirez in northern Hillsborough County. Ramirez was held without bond at the Hillsborough County jail waiting for transport to Manatee County to face the charges.
