Sarasota motorcyclist in serious condition after crash in Bradenton

MANATEE -- A motorcyclist is in serious condition after a 53-year-old driver made an improper left turn and caused a crash Monday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

A 55-year-old Sarasota man was driving a Harley Davidson motorycle northbound on 15th Street East approaching the intersection with 38th Avenue East at 6:45 a.m. Monday, according to a release.

A 53-year-old man was driving a Toyota Tacoma southbound on 15th Street East and had stopped in the left turn lane at the same intersection. The man driving the Tacoma began to turn, cutting into the path of the motorcycle, troopers said.

The motorcycle collided with the side of the car, according to the release. The crash caused no injury to the driver but sent the motorcyclist to Blake Medical Center with serious injuries.

The Tacoma driver was cited for an improper left turn that violated the right-of-way.
