Manatee County school bus driver cited for careless driving after sideswiping car
MANATEE -- A Manatee County school bus driver was cited for careless driving after he sideswiped another vehicle when he failed to make a wide enough turn, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
At 8 a.m. Wednesday, the school bus was stopped in the northbound lane of 12th Street East at the stop sign at 61st Avenue East, and a 2010 Chevrolet Malibu was stopped eastbound on 61st Avenue East at the same intersection, according to a news release.
The bus driver made a left turn onto the westbound lane of 61st Avenue East and as he did, the bus' left rear tire hit the left front side of the Malibu.
The 33-year-old bus driver, Joseph T. Mojica, was cited for careless driving. There were four students on board the bus at the time of the crash.
There were no injuries reported.
