Bradenton man charged with attacking male rival over female

MANATEE -- A Bradenton man has been charged with punching another man over a female, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.

Richard Shawn Hasbrouck, 43, was arrested at 4 a.m. Tuesday in the 900 block of 69th Street NW, Bradenton, according to the report.

Hasbrouck and the victim were drinking around the pool at Hasbrouck's home when the female went to the restroom. Deputies said Hasbrouck and the female are involved in an intimate relationship but the victim had an interest in the female as well.

The victim reportedly walked into the restroom after the female and took his clothes off, but the female told the victim to back off, which Hasbrouck overheard.

He reportedly punched the victim, knocking him to the ground, and kicked and punched him several more times, causing a swollen left eye, cutting his nose and lip and leaving numerous red marks on his chest, according to the report.

Hasbrouck was charged with battery and violating probation, according to the sheriff's office website. He was held in Manatee County jail on $1,500 bond.
