Sarasota man, 19, charged with armed drug trafficking after undercover investigation

SARASOTA -- A Sarasota man was arrested on multiple charges at 11 a.m. Friday, including armed trafficking in drugs, according to the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office.

Michael Kaye, 19, was arrested at his apartment home following an undercover investigation. According to the sheriff's office, detectives purchased cocaine and LSD from Kaye on multiple occasions.

An arrest warrant for Kaye led to an arrest after an undercover detective bought cocaine HCL for $2,400. Kaye was taken into custody without incident with a Glock .45-caliber handgun in his waistband.

During a search at his apartment, detectives reported finding 167 grams of cocaine HCL, 26 grams of ecstasy, 1192 grams of marijuana, 12 grams of mushrooms, 1.87 pounds of edible THC chocolates, 2.4 grams of Adderall, 4.81 pounds of butane hash oil, .2 grams of LSD and $480.

Kaye was charged with armed trafficking in cocaine, trafficking in cocaine and MDMA, possession of LSD and cannabis with intent to sell, three counts sale of cocaine and one count sale of LSD.

Kaye was held without bond, the sheriff's office said.
