Investigation into death of 4-year-old Bradenton boy continues

MANATEE -- Detectives are still working to determine how a Bradenton boy died last week of unexplained injuries on his fourth birthday.

Some of Alexander Marr's extended family are left with questions and concerns as Manatee County Sheriff's Office detectives piece together what happened before he died April 12.

Alexander was pronounced dead at the scene at the duplex where the boy lived in the 700 block of 59th Avenue Terrace West, after deputies answered a 911 call from family. A preliminary autopsy report from the Medical Examiner's Office stated Alexander's death was caused by "unexplained injuries." The manner of death was not determined.

Deputies said Alexander lived with his mother, Dianna Marr, 32, and her boyfriend, Trevor Cardarelle, 25. No one has been charged in Alexander's death, but Cardarelle was arrested after he was found in possession of ammunition, which violates his probation for a grand-theft conviction, detectives reported.

Manatee County Sheriff's Office investigators have new information but it is ready to release it to the public yet, said spokesman Dave Bristow.

"We are still investigating and it's hard to say how much longer," Bristow said. "Wherever this takes us, it takes us."

Cardarelle is being held without bond at the Manatee County jail.

Dianna Marr has a second child, an 8-year-old daughter, who lives with her father.
