Woman in car with Justin Bieber when he was arrested in Miami Beach sues newspaper

The model who was a passenger in Justin Bieber's vehicle when he was stopped by Miami Beach police in January has filed a defamation lawsuit against a U.S. newspaper, according to the Orlando Sentinel.

Chantel Jeffries was a front-seat passenger in a yellow Lamborghini Bieber was driving through a neighborhood when was pulled over by officers on suspicion of driving drunk.

The 21-year-old student and professional model said she was "wrongfully accused" of "having an extensive criminal arrest record and rap sheet" in articles published in the New York Daily News, according to the Morgan & Morgan law firm.

Jeffries contends the information was false and has injured her reputation, according to her attorney Andrew Parker Felix.

Jeffries was rumored to be Bieber's girlfriend but denied they were anything more than friends in interviews with various entertainment news outlets.

The 19-year-old Canadian pop star was arrested and charged with DUI, resisting arrest and driving with a suspended license that day. Jeffries was not charged.
