Buffalo Creek Middle School volunteer charged with soliciting student for sex
MANATEE — An 18-year-old Parrish man posted a $5,000 bond Saturday and was released from the Manatee County jail a day after being arrested and charged with using a computer to solicit a minor victim for sex.
The victim is a student at Buffalo Creek Middle School and participates in the agricultural unit, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.
The suspect, Joshua Egan, is the son of a teacher at Buffalo Creek Middle School and volunteers with the agricultural program, according to the report.
Egan and the minor started a relationship, exchanged phone numbers and also communicated using “Kik” messenger, which is an application used to send messages, the report indicates.
Egan asked the minor to engage in sexual activity in several messages, the report states.
Egan told deputies when confronted that he sent all the messages and intended to meet the victim to have sex, the report states.
