Bradenton man killed in hit-and-run as police search for driver, police say
A 31-year-old Bradenton man was killed in a hit-and-run crash Friday night in Venice, and police are searching for the driver who struck him.
According to the Venice Police Department, the crash happened around 10 p.m. at the intersection of Venice Avenue and U.S. 41 Bypass.
Police said Aidlier Meyer, 31, of Bradenton, was crossing the street on foot when he was struck by a vehicle traveling northbound on U.S. 41 Bypass. The driver left the scene without stopping, according to the agency.
Meyer died from his injuries, according to police.
“The Venice Police Department is working with the family, and our hearts are with them as they navigate this profound loss,” the department said in a social media update.
Investigators are working to identify the driver involved in the crash.
