Palmetto man faces up 10 years in prison for lying on gun form, feds say

A Palmetto man has been charged with lying to a firearms dealer and faces a decade in federal prison, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Desmin Terrell Belvin Jr., 21, was indicted on March 21 after the State Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Florida said he lied on a firearm transaction form. Prosecutors say he filled the form out as if he were the buyer of a Glock handgun, “when in fact he knew he was buying the handgun on behalf of someone else.”

If Belvin is convicted, he could face a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison.

The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
