Manatee County man arrested after stabbing wife to death, deputies say
A Manatee County man is accused of fatally stabbing his wife inside their home Thursday, deputies said.
The stabbing happened around 5:40 p.m. in the 3700 block of 82nd Avenue Circle East in south Manatee County, according to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies say 39-year-old Jesse Nicholas Jones called 911 and reported that he had stabbed his wife.
When deputies arrived, they found 32-year-old Meaghan Bowler in a bathroom with apparent stab wounds, according to the sheriff’s office. Deputies began trying to save her until fire and EMS personnel arrived and continued treatment.
Fire and EMS personnel took Bowler to a local hospital, where she later died from her injuries, the sheriff’s office said.
Deputies arrested Jones without incident, the sheriff’s office said.
The couple’s two children, both under the age of 2, were inside the home at the time and were found unharmed, according to investigators.
Detectives with the Manatee Homicide Investigation Unit have charged Jones with murder. As of Friday, he remained in custody at the Manatee County Jail without bond on a second-degree murder charge, according to jail records.
The murder investigation is ongoing, the sheriff’s office said.
