Bradenton surveillance video shows suspect nap after truck break-in, police say
Bradenton police say they’re looking for a man accused of sleeping in a box truck before breaking into a second truck the weekend before St. Patrick’s Day.
At 2:55 a.m. on March 15, surveillance footage captured an unidentified man entered an unlocked box truck parked in the 300 block of Manatee Avenue West. He then took his shoes off and “made himself comfy” for over five hours, the police department said in a social media post.
“At 8:25 a.m., after some light calisthenics and a potty break, he went on a hunt for his missing sneakers,” police said.
The man then attempted to enter an identical box truck to retrieve his shoes and spent six minutes trying to break into the locked truck, according to police. Video appears to show the man banging his fist on the window of the truck.
“Not giving up, he went on a scavenger hunt for something heavy,” the post said.
The man broke the driver’s side and the passenger side window, and then left the scene, according to police.
“He was wearing a green ‘Ireland’ jersey, shorts, socks… and, when he left the scene, no shoes — which tells us he may have had one too many green beers,” the police department wrote.
Bradenton police ask anyone with information on the break-in to call the department at (941) 932-9300.
