Manatee sex offender arrested on child sexual abuse charges, deputies say
A man is under arrest after deputies said they found he shared child sexual abuse material on social media — less than a year after he was released for the same offense.
The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office arrested Kyle Ex, 37, on Wednesday in the 4000 block of Hidden River Lane in Sarasota after deputies investigated the promotion of child sexual abuse material at the location. Ex was arrested on ten separate counts of child sexual abuse material, the sheriff’s office said.
Ex was previously convicted in Manatee County for 15 counts of the same crime in 2024, according to the sheriff’s office. Records say he was released from prison in November.
According to an arrest report, Ex shared child sexual abuse material on the social media platforms Threads and Kik. In one chat, Ex said he knew a mother he could “blackmail” into allowing him to sexually abuse two children, deputies say.
After being released from incarceration in November, Ex was placed on sex offender probation, extending through 2038, according to court records.
The sheriff’s office says this arrest was made in collaboration with SWAT, the Internet Crimes Against Children, the Digital Forensics Lab, the Criminal Investigations Section, the Unmanned Aircraft Systems and the Tactical Unit.
According to the sheriff’s office, Ex is being held without at the Sarasota County Jail.
