Search underway after Bradenton man shot dead at his front door, deputies say

A shooting at a Bradenton home Wednesday afternoon left a 54-year-old man dead , according to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded about 2:55 p.m. to a home in the 7000 block of Chatum Light Run in Heritage Harbour, where they found the man with two gunshot wounds, the sheriff’s office said. The man later died at the hospital in the evening, deputies say .

The victim told investigators the shooter came to his home and shot him after he answered the door. Detectives believe the shooting was targeted and not a random act of violence, according to a news release.

Detectives with the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office are working to identify and locate the shooter, the agency said in a news release.

The investigation remains ongoing, according to the sheriff’s office.
