Police share new footage linked to Bradenton woman’s unsolved killing
A year after a Bradenton woman was gunned down in her driveway, police released new surveillance video that investigators hope will help identify the people involved.
Detectives said 43-year-old Yolanda Baxcajay-Flores, a mother of four, was fatally shot while pulling into her driveway on 15th Avenue East on Nov. 12, 2024. The case remains unsolved.
The Bradenton Police Department said detectives have identified several persons of interest but still need more information and are urging the public to come forward.
On the one-year anniversary of her killing, police released home-security footage showing what appears to be a sedan pulling up near the intersection of 14th Avenue East and 21st Street East at 7:28 p.m., minutes before the shooting.
Investigators said the driver stayed inside the car while three people got out and ran toward 15th Avenue East. Within seconds, more than 30 rounds were fired from multiple weapons. The group returned to the car and left at 7:30 p.m.
Bradenton woman not the target of shooting, police say
Baxcajay-Flores had just come home from grocery shopping when the shooting happened, and she was struck by at least one of the bullets, according to police. Detectives said she was not the intended target.
“We have no reason to believe she was the intended victim or had anything to do with who the suspects may have been shooting at,” Bradenton Police spokesperson Meredith Censullo previously told the Bradenton Herald. “She just happened to be on her way home from the grocery store and was at the wrong place at the wrong time.”
Police offer reward for information
Police said an $8,000 reward is available for information leading to an arrest. That includes $3,000 from Crime Stoppers and $5,000 from the Gold Star Club of Manatee County. To qualify, tips must be submitted anonymously to Crime Stoppers at manateecrimestoppers.com.
Investigators also asked anyone with information to contact Detective Brian Sands at brian.sands@bradentonpd.com or 941-932-9312.
