Manatee County deputies have charged a man with murder after a fatal stabbing at a Bradenton home early Sunday morning.

Deputies arrested Jean Addition, 39, and booked him into the Manatee County Jail on Sunday.

Just after 2 a.m., deputies responded to a home in the 400 block of 60th Avenue Drive East in Bradenton, the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office said.

There, deputies say they found a 40-year-old Wednes Cleophat with multiple stab wounds and Addition with a head laceration.

Witnesses told deputies that the two men were having an altercation when Addition stabbed Cleophat multiple times, the sheriff’s office said.

Emergency responders took Cleophat to HCA Florida Blake Hospital, where he died Sunday morning, the sheriff’s office said.

Addition received treatment for his injuries at a different hospital before his arrest, the sheriff’s office said.

The sheriff’s office said the reason for the fight remains unclear, and detectives continue to investigate the incident.
