Murder investigation begins after teen killed in Bradenton shooting, police say

Police said a murder investigation is underway after a teen died in a late-night shooting outside a Bradenton home Monday.

Officers responded to the 400 block of 11th Avenue East at 11:28 p.m. and found a teenager outside a house with a gunshot wound, according to the Bradenton Police Department. Officers gave first aid until paramedics arrived and took him to a hospital, where they say he died early Tuesday morning.

Police publicly identified the victim late Tuesday afternoon as 15-year-old Kayvon Dunbar, according to a news release.

Bradenton police said detectives with the agency and the Manatee Homicide Investigative Unit are still collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses as they work to determine what led to the shooting. Police said they will release more details as the investigation continues.

Police ask anyone with information to contact Detective Brian Sands at brian.sands@bradentonpd.com. People can also submit anonymous tips to Manatee Crime Stoppers at ManateeCrimestoppers.com or 866-634-8477 for a possible reward of up to $3,000.
