A roadside argument between two construction workers on Interstate turned violent Tuesday morning and ended in an arrest, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers say Finale Mareus, a 37-year-old Bradenton woman, was arguing with a male coworker in a construction zone near mile marker 222 in Manatee County around 9:22 a.m. when the dispute turned physical. According to an arrest report, Mareus bit the man’s cheek and hit him in the head with a metal rod.

The victim suffered “significant injuries,” troopers say, and was treated by paramedics at the scene. According to a news release, the man declined to be taken to the hospital.

Troopers arrested Mareus on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. She is being held without bond at the Manatee County Jail, according to the sheriff’s office website.
