Man charged with attempted murder. Deputies say he nearly beat Parrish man to death

A man is charged with attempted murder after he admitted to severely beating a 74-year-old man inside a Parrish home, the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office said.

Around 3 p.m. Sunday, deputies responded to a report of possible domestic violence in the 8300 block of Ocean Tide Circle, the sheriff’s office said. At the scene, they found Robert Carter, 54, covered in blood at the front door, according to a news release.

Inside the home, deputies said they discovered the victim lying in a pool of blood with a swollen left eye and severe head trauma. He was taken to a local hospital, where deputies said he was in stable condition as of Monday morning.

Deputies say they arrested Carter after he confessed to beating the victim and forcing a handful of pills down his throat.

As of Monday morning, Carter was in the hospital for injuries he received during the incident, the sheriff’s office said.

The investigation is ongoing, the agency said.
