Bradenton police say they’ve arrested a 17-year-old from Clearwater and 19-year-old Jeremiah Williams, Bradenton, in connection with an armed robbery at River Trace apartment complex in Bradenton.

Bradenton police arrested two people accused of holding a woman at gunpoint and stealing her purse.

Officers responded to a 911 call on Feb. 25 from a woman who reported that two people robbed her at the River Trace apartment complex along 27th Street East near Braden River, police said.

The woman told officers that two teenagers approached her and asked for a ride. When she refused, one of them allegedly pulled out a gun and took her purse before they fled, according to a news release.

Police searched the area and found one of the suspects, a 17-year-old from Clearwater, hiding in a wooded area behind the complex, according to the Bradenton Police Department. Officers also discovered two backpacks behind an apartment building containing 258 grams of marijuana and a firearm that had been reported stolen in Manatee County, police said.

Detectives say they later identified the second suspect as Jeremiah Williams, 19, of Bradenton. Police said Williams turned himself in on Sunday.

Police say Williams and the teen are charged with armed robbery with a firearm. The investigation is ongoing, police say.
