Bradenton couple caught on video stealing packages from porches, sheriff’s office says

A Bradenton couple was arrested Tuesday after they were caught on video stealing packages from multiple Lakewood Ranch homes, the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office said.

Joseph Burden, 41, and Jessica McNew, 42, were charged with multiple counts of grand theft from a residence, the sheriff’s office said. Both are expected to face additional charges, the agency said.

In a doorbell camera video, Burden and McNew were seen stealing a package at the front door of a Lakewood Ranch home and driving off in a white Toyota Solara, deputies said.

After searching a home and shed in the 1600 block of 51st Ave. E. in Bradenton, detectives said they found packages and other personal property. Detectives said they also found Christmas cards and other mail in the trunk of the car that were “likely removed from mailboxes.”

Burden and McNew are being held at the Manatee County Jail, according to the sheriff’s office website.
