Troopers arrested Christopher Quezada-Cerros, 18, and charged him with leaving the scene of a deadly crash. He is being held at the Manatee County Jail without bond.

The man was driving an SUV north on U.S. 41 near 63rd Avenue West just after 10:30 p.m. when he hit a pedestrian walking with a bicycle, troopers said.

The pedestrian, 62, of Sacramento, California, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a news release. Troopers say they have notified his family of his death.

The driver stopped the SUV to check on the pedestrian before he fled the scene, troopers said. He later returned to the scene, where he was arrested, troopers said.

The driver and his passenger, a Bradenton 17-year-old, were not hurt in the crash.

The crash is still under investigation.
