A 49-year-old Bradenton man who was critically injured during a September hit-and-run died from his injuries, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Troopers said the man was “possibly laying down” on the travel lane of the 5100 block of U.S. Highway 41 when an “unknown vehicle” traveling north hit the man and left the scene.

FHP said emergency services brought the man to a hospital with critical injuries, but he died a little over a week later.

The man’s name has not been publicly released at this time.

Troopers announced Friday afternoon that the “unknown” vehicle involved in the hit-and-run is a dark-colored sedan and said the investigation remains ongoing.

The crash happened on Sept. 2 just before 4 a.m., according to a news release.

Anyone with information regarding the crash or the dark-colored sedan are asked to contact FHP by dialing *347 or by calling Crime Stoppers at 866-634-8477.
