Bradenton woman arrested for pulling knife in Bayshore High parking lot, deputies say
A Bradenton woman was arrested Monday after the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office said she pulled a knife on another woman in a school parking lot.
Griselda Cardenas, 36, was “engaged in a heated argument” with another woman in the Bayshore High School parking lot, according to a probable cause affidavit. Deputies said that during the argument Cardenas threw a bottle top at the other car, prompting the woman to approach Cardenas’ vehicle and kick the driver-side door.
Deputies say Cardenas then got out of her car and grabbed an 8-inch butcher knife from the backseat. Wielding the knife, she approached the other woman, according to an arrest report.
A passenger in the backseat of Cardenas’ car got out of the car and yelled to put the knife away, according to the affidavit. Deputies say Cardenas responded by throwing the knife in the backseat floor of her car.
A sheriff’s office deputy arrived at the school at around 3:35 p.m. Monday and saw the two women screaming in each other’s faces in the middle of the school driveway, according to an arrest report. The deputy separated the two women, according to the sheriff’s office.
The deputy said he then found the knife in the backseat of Cardenas’ car.
Cardenas was arrested Monday for aggravated assault with intent to commit a felony, according to the sheriff’s office website.
Court records show Cardenas was released Tuesday after posting $2,500 bond and entering a not-guilty plea.
