Viral video posted online appears to show shots fired at Oneco Rose bar shooting

A video posted online that appears to show shots fired inside Oneco Rose Bar is circulating on social media.

The video is gaining attention following a shooting where the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office say a 20-year-old man shot and injured two customers at the bar after he got into a fight with another customer.

Deputies say Devin Waiters pulled a gun and fired shots inside the bar, 103 Cortez Road, Bradenton, and injured two customers following a fight on Sept. 12 around 9:47 p.m.

The fight started when another customer punched Waiters, according to an arrest report, which said the two were then separated by other bar patrons. That’s when detectives say Waiters pulled out a black semi-automatic handgun and aimed it at the patron he had been fighting with as the victim tried to hide behind the bar.

A video posted to social media earlier in the week by someone who says they were a bystander appears to show a handgun being pulled and at least two shots being fired while another bar patron holds a customer back, as if breaking up a fight.

Detectives said in a probable cause affidavit that Waiters took “careful aim” by using two hands to point the gun as he shot in the direction of the victim. However, in the video posted online, the shooter appears to use only one hand to fire the gun.

Two bar patrons were shot, according to the affidavit. The intended target, who detectives say Waiters fought, suffered non-life-threatening gunshot wounds, as did another unrelated bar patron who detectives say was struck as a bystander.

The sheriff’s office says Waiters then fled the bar while wearing black clothes and a large gold chain and left one of his shoes at the scene, but was later identified by a detective who viewed the surveillance footage.

Waiter’s mother called 911 shortly after midnight and said her son was involved in a shooting at Oneco Rose, according to an affidavit, which led to Waiters’ arrest the next day, Sept. 13.

At the time of his arrest, detectives say he was wearing the same gold chain with a large black medallion, in addition to having fresh injuries at the time of the arrest, including a laceration above his left eye.

Waiters is facing charges of attempted murder and is being held at the Manatee County Jail, according to court records.
