Watch Hurricane Idalia approach the Florida coast on beach camera livestreams
As Hurricane Idalia strengthens and spins in the Gulf of Mexico toward Florida, livestream cameras up and down the Gulf Coast are in position to capture the storm on video making landfall.
Idalia is expected to become a major hurricane as it moves over the eastern Gulf of Mexico today before reaching the Gulf Coast of Florida with intense winds and storm surge.
Idalia is also expected to bring widespread power outages to Florida and could cause cell phone service to go down in some places.
A variety of viewpoints of the approaching storm can be seen thanks to cameras stationed on the barrier islands off of Manatee and Sarasota counties by businesses and local governments, which will allow residents and officials to closely monitor the storm in real time.
Views include Holmes Beach, Bradenton Beach, Longboat Key, Siesta Key, Englewood Beach, as well as traffic cams at the Skyway Bridge and other landmarks.
