11-year-old, 17-year-old arrested after Manatee school buses shot with BB guns, police say
Two juveniles suspected of firing BB guns into two Manatee County school buses on Tuesday have been arrested and charged, the Bradenton Police Department said Wednesday.
Detectives learned the rounds fired into the buses were fired from a home on 27th Street East in Bradenton, the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office said. The youths were found with two rifle-style BB guns and a pistol-style weapon in their possession.
Two children, ages 11 and 17, were arrested and charged with second-degree felonies for shooting into or throwing deadly missiles into a vessel.
The first incident happened at about 1:15 p.m. Tuesday on 9th Avenue East near 27th Street East. A bus was driving north and hit twice on the right side.
Both shots went through the window, the release said.
The second incident happened just before 4:40 p.m. near 27th Street East and 9th Avenue/Martin Luther King Avenue East.
No one was injured and there were no children on either bus, police said.
