Sheriff’s office says woman shot husband during argument at Lakewood Ranch home
The Manatee County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the shooting death of a 58-year-old man in Lakewood Ranch on Sunday.
The sheriff’s office on Tuesday released the name of his 28-year-old wife, who is considered the suspect. The Bradenton Herald is not publishing her name because she has not been charged with a crime.
The sheriff’s office did not release the victim’s name, citing Marsy’s Law.
“Detectives believe (the woman) was involved in a domestic related argument when she shot him twice at their Central Park home Sunday night,” the sheriff’s office said.
Detectives are still trying to determine what occurred between the two before the shooting, said sheriff’s office spokesman Randy Warren.
“We just have to figure out what happened before the shots were fired,” Warren said Tuesday. “We are going to take our time and figure out what was going with the dispute. We’ll put more time into this and see if it results in charges.”
Deputies initially responded to a shooting at a home in the 11300 block of White Rock Terrace in Lakewood Ranch just before 7 p.m. on Sunday night. The man, who had been shot twice, was taken to a local hospital where he later died, the sheriff’s office said.
The couple were home alone at the time of the shooting, according to the sheriff’s office.
Warren said deputies have not been to that address for anything domestic related in the past.
“So we have to look at that further to get a better idea of what was going on inside that home and their relationship,” Warren said.
