Bradenton couple survive home invasion. They helped catch a suspect, cops say

A 29-year-old Palmetto man is facing multiple felony charges after he broke into a Bradenton home armed with a gun and tasers, according to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies began investigating the case on July 31 and Crispin Ramirez was arrested Aug. 6.

According to the arrest report, Ramirez and a second unknown suspect broke into the home shortly after a man arrived home from work.

Deputies say the man was tied up with zip ties and Ramirez and the other suspect poured bleach on the victim, causing chemical burns.

The victims were forced to remove their jewelry and the house was ransacked, according to the report.

Ramirez was wearing a face covering and dressed all in black, but the female victim was able to later identify Ramirez from his tattoos, deputies say.

The woman reported to deputies that she had seen a vehicle driving past the home on several occasions, which she found odd. The day after the home invasion, the victims saw the same car and followed it.

They took a photo of the car’s license plate, which proved to be stolen.

According to the report, the victims began searching social media and came across a photo of Ramirez showing off the tattoos the victim described.

Ramirez was arrested two days later and booked into the Manatee County jail on charges that include armed home invasion, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon and possession of ammunition by a convicted felon.

He remains in custody on bonds totaling $165,000.

According to jail records, Ramirez is a felony criminal registrant with prior arrests for burglary, using a deadly weapon, theft and multiple domestic violence arrests.

He has since been additionally charged with violating pretrial release conditions placed on him for domestic violence.
