Three years later, a Manatee County man is charged with molesting a showering child

A 49-year-old Manatee County man is behind bars and charged with child molestation, more than three years after the crime, according to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies say Todd McAdams sexually touched a child under the age of 12 in 2016.

According to the arrest warrant, deputies were investigating another matter earlier this year when the child came forward with the information.

The victim told investigators that McAdams came into the bathroom while the child was in the shower, got undressed and touched the child in the “no-no spot.”

An investigation into the allegation ensued and the arrest warrant was issued in February.

McAdams left Manatee County after the incidents and was living in Michigan by the summer of 2017, but returned at some point and was employed in Sarasota. Deputies indicated McAdams was identified and arrested following a traffic incident.

McAdams was arrested on Aug. 1 and booked into the Manatee County jail where he remains in custody on bonds totaling $25,000. McAdams is additionally charged with violating an injunction order against him for domestic violence.
