Man charged with beating, robbing woman in Bradenton

A 22-year-old Bradenton man beat and robbed a woman at gunpoint, according to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.

Justin Mack was arrested around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday. He ran from deputies, but couldn’t outrun the K9 unit.

According to the arrest report, Mack and an unknown second suspect began following the victim as she left the Michiana Motel, 3235 14th St. W. Deputies say Mack and the other suspect were on bicycles when they approached the victim.

Deputies say Mack and the other suspect first propositioned the victim and when she refused, they attacked her.

According to the report, they forced the victim behind a nearby fence and began to beat her with their fists. Deputies say Mack then pulled a handgun and pistol whipped the victim in the head, taking $60 from her back pocket.

Deputies say the beating continued, but the suspects eventually fled on their bicycles. Law enforcement responded and put out a description matching Mack, who was spotted by a deputy in the 600 block of 17th Avenue West.

According to the report, Mack dropped his bicycle and began running through a nearby apartment complex. A perimeter was established to contain him, at which time a K9 unit began tracking Mack, located him trying to hide and engaged him in the leg.

Mack was booked into the Manatee County jail on charges including, armed robbery, prowling, and resisting arrest. He is being held without bond.
