Sarasota man threatened Black Lives Matter protesters, cops say. Now he’s behind bars
A Sarasota man is behind bars after investigators say he threatened to shoot Black Lives Matter protesters on social media.
Quintin Adkins, of Nokomis, used Snapchat and Instagram to post threatening messages directed at protesters, according to investigators with the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office. In profanity-laden videos posting to his account, Adkins was seen holding several firearms and encouraged others to join him in shooting protesters, an arrest report said.
“I’d love to ... shoot all of them,” Adkins said in a video posted Thursday to his Snapchat account, according to the sheriff’s office.
“So with that being said, who wants to go to a Black Lives Matter f******riot and go shoot some s*** up, huh? Adkins said in a separate video, according to an arrest report.
Deputies began their investigation into the videos after receiving an anonymous tip on June 11.
Investigators said Adkins brandished a handgun and an AK-47 in several videos. According to an arrest report, Adkins also pointed weapons at vehicles that were driving by and a cat.
Deputies arrested Adkins, who is charged with a single count of written threats to kill, on Thursday. He is being held without bond at the Sarasota County Correction Facility.
