Bradenton woman charged in deadly shooting, police say
An 18-year-old woman has been charged with murder in the shooting death Thursday afternoon of a 28-year-old Bradenton man, according to the Bradenton Police Department.
Two people required hospitalization following the shooting in the 600 block of 12th Avenue West in Bradenton on Thursday, according to police.
One of the shooting victims, James Michael Singleton, has died. Police arrested 18-year-old Kashell Brianna Watson of Bradenton and charged her with second-degree murder.
Several officers responded around 2 p.m. to a report of multiple shots fired Thursday afternoon, Capt. Brian Thiers said. Officers roped off the block and brought in the Homicide Task Force.
The first victim was treated near a red sedan parked in a local driveway. Investigators appeared to identify three bullet casings with yellow markers.
“When officers arrived they found one victim on the scene with a gunshot wound. While treating and triaging him, they had another victim walk up with a gunshot wound,” Thiers explained in an interview with the Bradenton Herald on Thursday afternoon. “Both victims have been taken to area hospitals, where they are receiving treatment.”
Police confirmed Singleton’s death on Thursday evening. No update was provided on the condition of the other person who was shot.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
