Bradenton man fell off bike and got hit by a vehicle. The driver didn’t stop, FHP says

A 61-year-old Bradenton man is in critical condition after he was in a collision with a trailer being towed by a vehicle in Manatee County, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

The driver did not stop, and troopers are seeking information from the public about the crash.

The incident occurred just before 2:30 p.m. Monday on Manatee Avenue West near East Bay Drive in Holmes Beach.

A driver in a truck of unknown make, model and color was traveling west on Manatee Avenue West towing a trailer with a red forklift on it, according to FHP.

The 61-year-old man was riding east on a bicycle on the northern sidewalk along Manatee Avenue West when he fell off of the bike and into the roadway.

The rear right portion of the trailer then struck the man, troopers say. The motorist did not stop to render aid and continued to drive west.
