A Bradenton man lied about his age to entice a minor to have sex with him, cops say

He not only lied about his age to entice a teenager into having sex with him after conversing with her on Snapchat, but he also gave the victim two sexually transmitted diseases, according to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies say Anthony Kidd, 26, also convinced the victim to send a sexually graphic video of herself to him. He is charged with unlawful sexual activity with a minor and using an electronic device to lure a child while misrepresenting his age.

He remains in custody in the Manatee County jail on bonds totaling $100,000. Prior arrests include burglary and aggravated animal cruelty.

According to the arrest warrant, the sexual relationship was disclosed in November to law enforcement. The victim, listed between 16 and 17 years old, disclosed her real age to Kidd, who then lied about his age.

After three weeks of “dating” the victim, she went to Kidd’s residence and the pair smoked marijuana, according to the warrant. The victim said the marijuana was laced with ecstasy, deputies say. She passed out and woke up without a shirt, but did not remember anything else, according to the warrant.

The victim acknowledged that the two later had consensual sex on two occasions, but she was unaware of his real age. She later discovered that she had contracted two sexually transmitted diseases, according to the warrant.

The investigation concluded after a forensic examination of the victim’s phone found the video and conversations about their sexual relationship. An arrest warrant was issued for Kidd on March 20, but he could not be initially located.

He was arrested on April 16 and charged with the two felonies.
