Vandal didn’t just damage a Jewish temple, Sarasota cops say. He used Nazi symbols

Just after midnight on April 2, a man was caught on a security camera approaching the Temple Emanu-El in Sarasota and spray painting several Nazi swastikas onto the building.

The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help in identifying the man who vandalized the temple at 151 McIntosh Road.

He is described as being between 5 feet and 10 inches to six feet and one inch tall, clean shaven and with no visible tattoos.

Still photos released by the sheriff’s office on Friday show the suspect wearing a dark baseball cap, short-sleeved button-up collared shirt, blue jeans and flip flops.

He was wearing headphones at the time.

Deputies say the suspect caused an estimated $5,000 in damage.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Criminal Investigations Section at 941-861-4900 or 941-861-4928.
