Bradenton man beat a child for putting his beer in the fridge, cops say

A 47-year-old Manatee County man is facing a felony child abuse charge after he beat up a child for putting his beer in the refrigerator, according to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies say David Leslie King was already drunk at the time of the attack, which took place about 2:30 p.m. on April 1.

The age of the victim and the address were redacted from the arrest report.

Deputies say the child placed King’s beer in the refrigerator after realizing King was beginning to get drunk. This somehow “enraged” King who punched the child in the face multiple times, according to the report.

King further grabbed the victim by the neck and slammed him against the wall, deputies say.

The victim suffered a black eye and a swollen bloody nose, as well lumps on his head and swollen lips, the report states.

King was booked into the Manatee County jail and charged with felony child abuse. He remains in custody on a $5,000 bond.
