‘Wouldn’t it be cool if I shoot up the school,’ Bradenton middle school student said, cops say

A student at Dr. Mona Jain Middle School was investigated after telling another student it would be cool to shoot up the school, according to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.

According to an incident report dated March 5 and made public this week, the student was walking down the hallway with another student when one of the students said, “If I had a gun, wouldn’t it be cool if I shoot up the school and not to tell anybody.”

Deputies interviewed the student and after a search of the student’s home for weapons didn’t find anything other than a pocketknife in his bedroom, no criminal charges were filed.

“The school handled the incident accordingly,” the report states.
