They led deputies on a chase in a stolen Jeep in Bradenton. A K-9 found them in the end
When Manatee County Sheriff’s Office deputies identified a stolen Jeep in the lot of a Bradenton gas station on Tuesday night, they attempted to make a traffic stop.
The situation quickly developed into full-blown chase.
The driver of the Jeep Wrangler took off at a high rate of speed, according to the sheriff’s office, leaving the BP gas station located off of Manatee Avenue East and traveling south on 27th Street East.
The Jeep made several turns before coming to an abrupt stop on 11th Avenue East, deputies say.
The vehicle pursuit lasted about a minute-and-a-half, the sheriff’s office said.
As a sheriff’s helicopter arrived on the scene, three people exited the vehicle and ran.
Sheriff’s office K-9 units pursued as the suspects made their away across several properties.
The search was assisted from above by the aviation unit.
One man and two teens were arrested.
Deputies say they have reason to believe that the suspects were involved in other recent carjackings and vehicle thefts.
The driver, 18-year-old Kevin Brown, is charged with motor vehicle theft, failure to obey a law enforcement order to stop, resisting arrest and obstruction.
The passengers, two 15-year-old boys, face charges of resisting arrest and obstruction.
