Bradenton cocaine dealer gets more than seven years in prison
A Bradenton cocaine dealer has been sentenced to more than seven years in prison for drug trafficking and weapons convictions, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Quleton Monix, 36, pleaded guilty on Oct. 24 to possessing with intent to distribute cocaine and for possessing a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking. He was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Virginia M. Hernandez Covington to seven years and nine months in prison.
Monix was arrested on Sept. 24, 2018, after he sold sold crack cocaine to undercover detectives five times. When he was first arrested, Monix was charged locally with five counts of selling cocaine and possession of more than 28 grams but less than 150 kilograms of a cocaine mixture.
When Monix and his car were searched at the time of his arrest, detectives found almost $5,000 in his pocket and wallet, more than $18,000 wrapped in $1,000 stacks and 3.9 grams of crack cocaine. Detectives also searched Monix’s home, finding 38 grams of cocaine, a digital scale, a razor blade, two silver pots and a fork that contained cocaine residue, a loaded semi-automatic pistol, and a box of ammunition.
Detectives with the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office worked with FBI agents to built a case against Monix.
Two days after his arrest, Monix was released from the Manatee County jail after he posted $150,000 in bonds.
Monix continued to deal drugs in Bradenton, as law enforcement conducted surveillance of his activities, according to federal court documents.
