Man steals $5,000 in lottery tickets from a Bradenton Circle K, cops say. His luck ran out

On Oct. 11 at the Circle K in the 3000 block of First Street West, 31-year-old Jason Walker managed to sneak into the rear of the store during business hours and made off with more than $5,000 worth of scratch-off lottery tickets, according to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.

Walker left behind finger prints, which eventually led to his arrest on Wednesday, deputies say. Law enforcement didn’t have any troubles locating Walker since he was already in jail on a Nov. 6 charge for the sale of fentanyl.

Deputies say the brazen burglary of the Circle K occurred just before 8 p.m. while employees and customers were inside the store. While inside the manager’s office, Walker pried open a filing cabinet containing the tickets, the sheriff’s office said.

It was on the filing cabinet where deputies say Walker left behind his fingerprints.

Besides the drug charges he already faces, Walker is charged with felony burglary and remains in custody.
