Bradenton woman charged with stabbing man during struggle
A 30-year-old Bradenton woman has been charged with stabbing a man in the back with a knife, according to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to the 4500 block of 68th Avenue West around 7 a.m. where the stabbing occurred while other deputies responded to Blake Medical Center to make contact with the victim.
Deputies at the hospital reported the victim was “seriously injured,” but his wound was not life threatening.
According to the arrest report, the victim and Jennifer Shade knew one another, but were not romantically involved. The victim drove down from Tampa to spend some time with Shade and a few friends, the report states.
Deputies say the victim borrowed a car from a friend and had to return it. He told Shade he had to leave while the pair were sitting in the vehicle while she was sitting behind the wheel. Shade refused to exit the car so the victim got out of the car, walked to the driver’s side and pulled Shade from the vehicle, deputies say.
When the victim turned around to get back into the vehicle, “he felt what he knew was a knife hit him in the back,” the report states.
Shade claimed the knife belonged to the victim and the two struggled for it during a fight and when she managed to get it from the victim, he became “enraged” and pushed her from the car,” the report states.
The rest of her statements to deputies were redacted from the report.
Shade was booked into the Manatee County jail on a battery causing great bodily harm charge and remained in custody as of Friday morning on a $25,000 bond, according to jail records.
