Sarasota man charged with raping two women when they were kids

Two women have come forward to disclose they were sexually abused by a 55-year-old man when they were children, according to the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies say the abuse began around the time the victims were 4 years old and continued through the age of 11.

In 2003, Riley was arrested on a charge of possession of child pornography and allegations of molestation were being made at that time, but the report states the children were too young “to articulate sexual abuse if it were occurring.”

Another report was filed in 2011 alleging the victims were still being abused, but the children were too fearful of Riley given his violent tendencies toward them.

Riley is charged with one count of lewd and lascivious behavior, molesting a victim less than 12 years old and sexually assaulting a victim under the age of 12. He was booked into the Sarasota County jail on Sunday and remains in custody on bonds totaling $200,000.
