While churchgoers were worshiping, a Bradenton man was breaking into their cars, cops say

While parishioners at Unity Church were trying to do God’s work, a 22-year-old Bradenton man was busy doing the devil’s work, according to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies say Keiontai Turner entered the church’s parking lot just before 9 p.m. Wednesday while services were being conducted inside and was seen by church staff attempting to enter several vehicles parked at the church, 4200 32nd St. W.

According to the arrest report, Turner managed to get inside one of the vehicles, at which time he was confronted by staff.

Turner ran off before anything could be stolen, the report states.

Deputies searched the area and found Turner based on his description and witnesses on the scene identified him as the one responsible.

Turner refused to speak to law enforcement after his arrest and was booked into the Manatee County jail on one count of felony vehicle burglary.

According to jail records, Turner remains in custody on a $1,500 bond.
