Wanted sex offender back in Manatee County jail
A 57-year-old Bradenton man is back inside the Manatee County jail where he spent 364 days in 2015 after being convicted of attempted lewd and lascivious act on a 15-year-old girl.
Deputies say Gaudencio Nunez had absconded from his sex offender requirements post conviction and had been wanted since 2017.
Authorities say Nunez absconded to Texas where he was arrested in 2017 on a burglary charge, which also violated his probation in Manatee County.
However, Nunez was deported to Mexico following his burglary arrest by Customs and Border Patrol, according to a warrant filed in November 2017.
Though details of his capture weren’t made immediately clear, Nunez was arrested Jan. 7 and booked into the Manatee County jail on the felony violation of probation charge.
According to the 2017 warrant, Nunez was violated for the Texas crime, as well as failing to make court costs and failing to attend the sex offender treatment program as required as conditions of his probation.
Nunez was originally arrested in January of 2014 for attempted sexual battery but had the charges reduced under a plea deal to attempted lewd and lascivious act and subsequently convicted in 2015 after pleading no contest.
According to the original arrest report, deputies say Nunez was at another person’s home when the homeowner woke up to loud music. The homeowner walked around the house to see why there would still be people at her home and when she checked her daughter’s bedroom the door was locked, according to the report.
The mother jarred the door open with a kitchen knife to find her 15-year-old daughter naked on the bed and Nunez naked on the floor beside the bed, the report states.
Nunez admitted he was going to have sex with the child but denied that it ever happened, according to the report.
