Bradenton man charged with rape after tying up woman and threatening to kill her, cops say

A 30-year-old Bradenton man is charged with sexual assault and false imprisonment after he tied up his victim and threatened to kill her if she didn’t perform certain sexual acts, according to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies arrived to a residence on Jan. 3 to find the victim in obvious distress with a fresh black eye. They also located Ethan Bauman still inside the home, according to the sheriff’s office.

Bauman is known to the victim, who told deputies that h, “was in a weird mood,” and demanded certain sexual acts, according to the arrest report.

If she refused, the report states, Bauman said he would he kill her.

Deputies say Bauman began to physically assault the victim in front of a child that was in the home.

The victim begged Bauman not to do anything in front of the child, at which time he temporarily stopped, took her to another room and began to beat her again, the report states.

Bauman used a pair of “leggings” to tie the victim up and sexually assaulted her. The victim was eventually able to convince Bauman to allow to her have a cigarette outside, at which time she was able to call for help, according to the report.

Deputies say they arrived just moments before Bauman planned to continue attacking the woman.

He was booked into the Manatee County jail on the two felonies and remains in custody on bonds totaling $25,000.
