A 55-year-old Manatee County woman succumbed to her injuries on Dec. 24 following more than two months of being hospitalized after a hit-and-run crash on Oct. 11.

The Florida Highway Patrol is still looking for the unknown driver.

Troopers say the accident occurred around 6:30 p.m. on State Road 70 as the unknown driver was pulling into the Wells Fargo Bank at 404 53rd Ave. W. at the same time Regina Curtis was traveling eastbound on a motorcycle. The unknown driver’s van collided with Curtis.

Witnesses describe the driver’s vehicle as a white Chevrolet van and that the driver briefly stopped before deciding to drive off through the parking lot, reentered SR 70 and then fled north on Ninth Street East.

If anyone has information regarding the crash, you are asked to call FHP at 239-938-1800.
