He was watching videos of children being sexually abused by men, cops say

A 31-year-old Sarasota deaf man is charged with child pornography possession after he watched videos of prepubescent children being sexually abused by adult men, according to the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies say Jersin Matthews, AKA Evan Matthews, downloaded at least five separate videos in November alone using his Google account.

The tip was provided by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and Google cooperated with the investigation.

Detectives made contact with Matthews on Dec. 16 and Matthews initially said, “My Facebook was hacked,” through a deaf interpreter, the report states. He went on to sign, “Today is a bad day ... it would be better for me to admit the truth and tell,” deputies say.

Matthews was booked into the Sarasota County jail on 130 counts of possession of child pornography and was being held without bond.
