Two women charged with assaulting another woman with baby crib parts, cops say

Two Bradenton women were arrested and charged with aggravated assault on Thursday after attacking another woman with parts of a baby crib, according to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.

Rejetta Dubois, 62, and Artavia Hardy, 28, were booked into the Manatee County jail, but both were released after posting bond.

Deputies say the victim was dropping off boards for a baby crib at a relative’s house when Hardy exited the home and began arguing with the victim, who dropped the boards.

Hardy picked up one of the boards and swung it at the victim, who put up an arm in self defense and was struck with the board, according to the arrest report.

Deputies say Dubois exited the home in the midst of the argument and picked up the other board and charged at the victim, “in an aggressive manner.” Although she did not strike the victim, deputies say Dubois’ actions put the victim in well-founded fear for her safety, which is a chargeable offense.

The victim transported herself to the hospital where she was diagnosed with a “severe soft tissue injury,” according to the report.
