Bradenton man charged with raping child over nine-year period

It wasn’t until Nathan Marcado was in jail, that a victim felt safe enough to reveal that Mercado had sexually abused the child for nine years, according to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.

Marcado, 37, was arrested Wednesday on a battery charge after he went to his former girlfriend’s place of business and began yelling at her while keeping her from calling 911. A customer did call law enforcement and Marcado fled, but he was later captured, deputies say.

Once Marcado was behind bars, the victim revealed to law enforcement a nine-year nightmare of sexual abuse, according to a report.

The age and gender of the child are redacted from the report.

Marcado would wait for the victim’s mother to go to work and then sexually assault the child, according to the arrest report.

Deputies say Marcado continually threatened to kill the victim if they revealed the abuse.

Marcado was booked into the Manatee County jail and is being held without bond.

According to court records, Marcado was arrested on felony child abuse charge in 2005, but his case was deferred with the option to prosecute at a later date.
